Maths anxiety (MA) is known to have a negative impact on student engagement with maths learning and as such impacts on their overall development as well-rounded graduates. By being able to identify levels of maths anxiety in our students we can introduce students to strategies that will build their resilience. Thus, addressing the issue of maths anxiety and related maths avoidance.

  2. Carrying out a technical task, lego building or origami in order to create a distraction from the maths anxiety a. Short appropriate maths exercise to do – more challenging than previous one. Keeping the learner in the Learning Zone.
  3. Developing sustainable learning - Self-directed: Listening to calming music for doing a mindfulness activity (controlling stress responses) a. Short appropriate maths exercise to do – more challenging than previous one
