Enable direct book to book messaging in a library between readers. Librarians enclosures in books all the time: love letters, notes, receipts. In some places, patrons have even used books to message each other secretly. There is no reason the library can't experiment with supporting activities of this kind.

Directions

  1. Paste envelopes into selected library books.
  2. Place books on the open library shelves. If desired, to introduce the program, begin with a special "message book" shelf to highlight the initiative.
  3. Invite patrons to place handwritten notes, fortune cookies, newspaper clippings, or other messages into the envelope in the book, and to look for messages whenever they take books off the shelves.
